Wouldn’t you love to know why?
‘This is a photo of my brother holding his new daughter. My daughter was standing behind the couch hugging my brother and it looks like his head is on her body. You can also see my other daughter on the couch next to them, and my Dad looking on. It was taken in 1985 at my home in Edina MN. The daughter sitting on the couch just moved and found this picture as she was sorting things. We all had a good laugh over it.’
“Listen, there’s nothing easy about holding three cats and a bunny all the same time. That little bunny, whose name is Arthur, is a big trouble-maker. He likes to bite on those cats when he gets a chance to. But those cats love him anyway. The cats involved are Madjka, Chachka and Pagliacci. I should explain, Christmas was coming and I wanted a picture with my my fur babies. (I work at a photography studio.)”
“Camp Nicaragua. This photo was taken around the same time as the political uprising that was going on in Nicaragua in the late 80s. Mother would tell people we were a bunch of refugees she had taken in.”
“My siblings were in a heated debate regarding what colors to wear for family pictures. My mom was sick of the argument so she said, ‘Just wear whatever!’….after my little brother and I showed up wearing this, she will never say that again.”
“This is my sister’s school photo in 1971. My Mom insisted that she wear a wig and as you can imagine, she wasn’t very happy about it. It was of course great to see your older sister get some pay back for all the torture she had caused me during that period.”
“After seeing my undergraduate thesis film (“Incest! The Musical”) my family thought it would be funny to wear their t-shirts while posing for a holiday photo. While the irony was not lost on them, it’s still a somewhat disturbing portrait.”
Katie was spending her 16th birthday on a cruise with her parents and godparents, away from her friends and siblings. She wasn’t thrilled about it, but her parents made her this ‘Sweet 16’ shirt that they made her wear. Worse than that, they all wore t-shirts with her face on the front and their names on the back, such as ‘Da Mom,’ thinking they were using cool lingo. She decided that they were dead to her and posed for this photo to post on FaceBook.
“My 4 year old son Jack had been asking to meet Santa. However, when we got to the mall he confessed he was nervous. When it was our turn he really didn’t want to at all, if you can’t tell.”
This kid was the rebellious one. When you live in a goth family, sometimes you just want to stand out. Of course they think he is the weird one.
“My parents just got a hot tub and were very excited about it. Therefore, my grandma hired a professional photographer to take a family photo in the hot tub. For some reason they posed with wine and candles even though the children were not old enough to drink… and were caught of guard when people disturbingly asked if they were wearing clothes after they sent it out to 150 plus friends as a Christmas card.”
