Ever since 9/11 countless troops have returned home from war. They need some extra support and care after what they experience oversees. Now people are showing support by hanging green lights outside of their houses.
This is Lourdes Gonzalez and she served in Iraq. She is one of the countless veterans who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
According to a 2014 census, there are 19.3 million veterans living in the US. A huge number of them suffer from PTSD. Understandable after having to experience the realities of war. The green lights might help them feel more welcome and supported in their home country.
